Review
Created by Petrogliph and LucasArts, Star Wars: Empire at War is a game of strategy based on the universe of Star Wars movies. The game tells the story from the times when the Galactic Republic falls to the destruction of the Death Star (Episode III and Episode IV).
In this game, it is possible to identify three different sections:
-.Strategy Map: Buildings and recruitments in the planets are managed, strategies are decided upon and the troops are ordered, among other options.
-. Ground Battle : As its name indicates, the battle is on the surface of a planet, with ground units, up to fourty different planets, each with its own population and climatic conditions which affects the offensive in one way or another.
-. Space Battle : It takes place in the space between the planets, with all kinds of spacecrafts, including the Death Star, with which you are able to destroy planets if you are playing the imperial side.
The game is divided into 3 modes:
1-. Campaigns:
1a-. With The Rebellion: The mission is to defeat the Empire and destroy the Death Star. Finally the story follows the same way as Episode IV.
1b-. With the Empire: The mission is to completely exterminate the rebellion using all methods. In this campaign, the story has a different ending, the Death Star is not destroyed, the rebellion is defeated completely, the Empire is victorious without anything that stops them.
2-. Galactic Conquest:
In this mission, the player can choose to be part of the Empire or the rebellion, it has a difference with the campaign mode: other planets appear and all the heroes appear.
3.- Skirmish: It is a very different mode because you can choose a scenario, credits are produced by conquering, you can afford super weapons or not, you choose the kind of credit with which you want to start the game (As in the galactic conquest) and, it is permissible heroes, or not. |
